Is there an individual capable of distinguishing the anterior mid singulate cortex in individuals who are unwilling to perform certain tasks though they do them?

This portion of the full show was my favorite and had so many "ah ha moments" on motivation and general life lessons.  This can be applied at school, in the gym or at the workplace.  Ultimately, in my mind, doing hard things by design can change the self perception from being rudderless to meaningful.

This is a life changer! This also ties in perfectly with Andrew's discussion with Dr. Anna Lembke, which I highly recommend. Thank you Dr. Andrew Huberman for sharing this, and thank you to David Goggins.

One of your best podcasts, in my opinion. Self-discipline is so powerful.

there is a beast in each and every one of us that is desperately needed to be unleashed and won't happen unless we dare going out of the box, build that willpower.

How to love myself unconditionally, how to forgive myself and how to build willpower and discipline are the fundamental questions of my life.

Great topic. I have always had a fascination with neuroscience, and this one of those topics that has always been the highest on my list of interest with regards to neuroscience.

I learned many years ago to embrace the stuff that I hate and don't want to do. It truly changed my life when I did so.

This puts context to all of that, and I appreciate the breakdown.

This is a masterpiece.
This changed my life.

Now I look at it like training a muscle.
I don’t run away from the discomfort any more.

This scientific breakthrough, and this conversation, totally validated everything Googins is about ✨

This conversation on David's end reminds me of a story I read where a runner was lost in the dessert and tried to end his own life so his wife could be financially comfortable but was so dehydrated he couldn't.

So he started eating what he could find (I believe bats) and survived.

He had mentioned the dessert teaching him lessons about itself and he returns to it. His wife left him because of it though which is understandable.

That story makes no sense

Women. Man nearly dies and in his final moments thinks of her future security at his own expense and she leaves him because he was "Off having fun too long and she slipped on another guy's "
by (100 points)
@@nervonabliss she left him because he was selfish. Runners are selfish. It takes a lot of time to run, train, and money… he probably never helped her in the home… not to mention, she probably told him to bring extra water just in case, and he wouldn’t listen to her. And then he eats bats to survive, which is understandable, but still, she might’ve even told him on that day, not to go because she had a feeling, and he didn’t listen to her. Where is her side of the story

God forbid a man have a hobby, and a healthy one at that. It's not his fault it takes a lot of time to run. And I highly doubt we can make the assumption that he never helped. Leaving your husband who thought of you in HIS last moments because "You didn't take that water bottle I tried to give you" is the definition of petty and childish. So if that's how you want to paint it.

she didn’t leave him because he didn’t take the water bottle but if they’re not going to listen to each other, then why stay together, it’s called caring for each other. As for the running, he probably worked and  ran, so there was no time for her at all, so why be with him and you know you in USA most guys don’t help with house work.

Hey Andrew! first of all, thank you very much for this clip with David. Every minute is pure gold! My question is, beyond strengthening willpower, which is no a small thing, what are the main benefits to the body or mind of enlarging the anterior midcingulate cortex? are there any biological benefits? My sincere greetings from Argentina!

I like to think of it as you have two sides, the adult and the teenager. The teenager wants to easy way out and the adult knows what’s best

When I'm gassed out on a tempo and there is no chance of a surge, I guess now is the time to surge, who do I wanna be? Who do I wanna be remembered as? The work ethic I practice and show is what I should live by. You never die, until the day you're forgotten. You got this!

Ok so as a homeschool mom of 3 boys I do my best to make school as active and accessible to each of my boys BUT sometimes it comes down to doing the worksheet or redoing an assignment and my son, 13, just wrote me a letter about how frustrating school is and how he hates it so I am going to show him this video because as we train for our 10k he understands we are building our endurance and our leg muscles but to now be able to know we are legitimately also building our brain into something while we do these things we dislike is an amazing motivator. I doubt it will make him want to do it but now doing hard things will have a purpose so thank you gentleman for your insight.

I should assume that Goggins entire brain is one big mid cingulate cortex
