Is there an individual capable of distinguishing the anterior mid singulate cortex in individuals who are unwilling to perform certain tasks though they do them?

I call this the "valley's" vs "mountain tops". We grow the most in the valleys, outside our comfort zone. Interesting yet also unsurprising there is a part of the brain that shows the growth in the discomfort. We have only tapped the tip of brainpower.

I can't imagine the level of pride and accomplishment David felt when Huberman told him about this new study. Imagine being judged by the way you think and behave everyday for years and ended up being right.

@@JStack Not needing validation is usually a very common trait with psychopaths
by (100 points)
posting this on a GOGGINS clip? Lmfao
by (100 points)
always needing validation is a trait of someone who doesn’t trust /believe in himself, and thus, easily swayed by the majority (even if blatantly wrong)
by (100 points)
Goggins already says he doesn't care about the way others judge because he has utter confidence in the way he lives his life currently. It's like when a normal guy tells a rocket scientist his opinions on spacex and nasa. Like it must sound so dumb like a dog barking at a human, you don't take offense and it's actually rather funny. It's actually funnier than a dog barking because once you're in the headspace of Goggins, you understand the insecurities of others more than they do.

@@JStack Humans are social creatures. It's our nature to seek validation.

This is amazing, to hear about the anterior mid-cingulate cortex. I suffered with severe depression for a few years after my parent’s death , desperate, a good friend of mine told me, you have to do exactly the opposite of what your brain (negative voice), is telling you to do. And so, I began doing it, the opposite: getting out of my bed, going outside, working out, working, eating healthy enough, spending time with people… without even noticing, a few months later , I was slowly going back to being myself. Without medication  I still feel the sadness that caused my depression but decided to go live life . Great episode . Digging deeper with the footnotes. I am not going back to depression .
by (100 points)
Our brain lies. Our perception can be warped by our emotional belief and our thoughts.

You see a lot of bosses treat everyone badly but when they look in the mirror, they think I'm  a good person. Their belief and identity is strong.

It's only when focus solely on what they are doing and how am I treating people, thar they realise.

Ambition, passion, and desires allows us to blind ourselves.

Either you handle the brain or it handles you.
by (100 points)
Just want to add that it's a lot harder to do those "good" things consistently when you have chronic depression and it isn't circumstantial. When you do everything right for a day, a week, or month, and it feels the same as doing nothing, it becomes incredibly difficult to find reasons to do the harder consistently.

By far one of your best podcasts, in my modest opinion.  What separates David from the crowd is he is REAL - truth bombs exploding everywhere.  As a 59 year old single mom who suffers from chronic pain (car accident) with four grown children, his words truly hit home.  I get out of bed every damn morning at 6:15 am and go to my day job even though I don't truly enjoy it, but it pays our bills.    I come home, shop,  cook healthy meals, workout a little, walk my dog, do some more chores then hit the bed early so I can get up, rinse and repeat.  I enjoy my weekends with friends and family but most of my time is spent doing.  I have been like this my entire life - always just putting one foot in front of the other, day by day.  Thanks Andrew.
by (100 points)
As someone who is eternally grateful to his mom (dad too ) for having raised me, I hope you know how grateful your kids probably are for your hard work ❤️
by (100 points)
How the hell did you end up in a situation like that
by (100 points)
he loves his life and he loves himself, it is just his way of dealing things and he found what he wants and that is what being told in this podcast, you know the ways are different but destiny is one: finding yourself. Also, you and I haven't lived his life nor have we seen him personally, you never judge something you do not know completely.
by (100 points)
Well done alichebry.

thank u, u are so strong
by (100 points)
Did you not hear that enlarging this part of your brain (which is not supposed to happen) by doing things you don't want to do you die sooner or your 59 year old mom brain can't comprehend that?
by (100 points)
God bless you and the grind

by (100 points)
Is he the slave, or are the slaves the people who do everything they can to avoid doing things they don't feel like doing?
by (100 points)
definitely the latter
by (100 points)
his whole point was that he’d never he finds the suck everyday, repeatedly. Which means he’s doing stuff harder than the day before everyday, wild dude

Try Jesus!

Matt. 11 Verses 28 to 30[28] Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
by (100 points)
Why do you keep ending in darkness?
by (100 points)
Jesus has nothing to do with it , It's about will power and science

Don't promote religion everywhere you see... Jesus is a Human being and a messenger of God , not God or child or father of God @@Cagnaccioitalia

I'd call it self-respect on the deepest level, you'll never have to doubt yourself or what you're capable of because it's now ingrained into your soul. You're a true legend Mr Goggins
by (100 points)
Okay it's just a brain area relax
by (100 points)
I’d call it a personality disorder
by (100 points)
okay but whats the difference between a soul and a brain.  brain is literally the core of your existence and your ego. so if we find out something so important about it, it sure does equal in importance to  soul-changing knowledge in my books

so who fixes the problem?

@@Cagnaccioitaliathen why every Christian is not successful????? Just get religious things away from this
by (100 points)
every? That's quite the broad statement to make. You obviously don't know any Christians then. I know a bunch of Christians that are successful. A Christian family friends of mine opened a winery and have been successfully running it for 20+ years, I know another Christian family that started their own contracting company and build, another Christian friend opened a salon, as well as myself am a successful business owner. Quite a lot of successful Christians out there. They give thanks to God they pray, which is like meditation, it keeps their eyes on the prize and Jesus is a support. He always said just ask and he shall receive!

Jesus is the OG. But he wouldn't appreciate being called a goat. so I'll just say he's the ultimate leader, ultimate support, friend, confidant, God, good shepherd, he's the rock everyone needs.

I love how DG is a good listener. I was expecting him to interrupt etc, but the guy can do it all. He is not only a beast, but to put it in the words of JBP: "You should be a monster, an absolute monster, and then you should learn how to control it." Goggins can do it all. A great listen. Thank you!
by (100 points)
Excellent insight. I noticed the same thing. Another attribute of this amazing human being.
by (100 points)
True. He's a very active man to say the least, and certainly knows to talk, but he's also willing to say quiet and listen to what others are saying.
